MT. WOLF John A. Pankowski, 72, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the companion of Josephine "Josie" Romero for 28 years. Mr. Pankowski was born on March 30, 1942, in Manville, N.J., son of the late Aloysius "Al" and Mary (Mazur) Pinkowski. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. John was employed as a Postal Supervisor for many years for the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired. He was a member of the Holy Infant Church in York Haven. Survivors include, four children, Michelle S. Mundt of New Jersey, John S. Pankowski and his wife Donna of New Jersey, Vincent M. Pankowski and his wife, Suzanne of New Jersey and Anthony J. Pankowski of Arizona; a stepdaughter, Joann Shenberger and her husband Gary of Mt. Wolf; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas Pankowski, Jessica Pankowski, Jamie Mundt, Julie Pankowski, Timothy Mundt, Justin Pankowski, Jack Pankowski, David Wingert, Dylan Wingert, Laken Shenberger, Laira Shenberger, and Lilah Shenberger; one great-grandson, Dawson Wingert; two sisters, Mary and Barbara; and two brothers, Joseph and Benedict; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosie. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Funeral Home, Inc., York.
