Jerry Dean Amey, age 74 of Santa Paula, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 after a long illness. Jerry was born in Dallas, Texas on July 26, 1941 and moved to Bakersfield in 1957. She moved her family to Santa Barbara in 1969 then to Oxnard in the 70's. In 2001, she settled in the small town of Santa Paula.
Ms. Amey joyfully served as one of Jehovah's Witnesses along with her 5 children in California congregations from 1958 to the present at which time she was associated with the Santa Paula (Ca) Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She found great joy in glorifying the word of Jehovah, our Creator, by teaching the "Good News" of the now-established kingdom to those rightly disposed to everlasting life (Acts 13:48; Matthew 24:14) and learning about all of God's wonderful creations. Jerry went to school to become a cosmetologist and worked at that profession for 35 years. Jerry was a whitty, creative, loving, generous and a very strong woman, always ready with a smile, her humor and a sympathetic ear. She had many hobbies including cutting hair, juicing, gardening, cooking and cleaning. Her greatest accomplishment by far is her family who will miss her dearly.
Jerry is survived by daughters, Tina Amey of Simi, Alicia Wilson of Camarillo, sons, Vernard Amey of Santa Paula, Maurice and Rose Amey of Mesa, Az., and Roland and Helen Wilson of Oxnard. 14 grand-children, 3 great-great grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved havanese, Chico.
