Jennie De BoerSeptember 10, 1940 - January 29, 2017TulareJennie De Boer was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 29, 2017 surrounded by family. She was loved by so many and was known as Jinke, Jennie, Vrouw, Mom, Beppe, Aunt Jennie, Tante Jennie, and Hoekie.Jennie was born on a small farm in Wirdum Friesland, the Netherlands on September 10, 1940 to George and Grace Hoekstra. She was the fourth of eight children. The Hoekstra family im-migrated to California in 1947 living in Bellflower, then Torrance and ultimately Corona, becoming part of a vibrant Southern California dairy communityJennie graduated from Corona High and worked briefly as a bank teller. A date with a charming young immigrant named Feike DeBoer, whom arrived on a horse, led to a 56 year love affair. Jennie and Feike were married on October 26 1960. They were inseparable and their adoration for each other lasted a lifetime. A year after their marriage their first child, Grace (John) Visser was born. Evie (Ron) Locke, Willem (Anneke) De Boer and George (Jenn) De Boer all soon followed. Feike and Jennie began in the dairy business in 1962 with Top O' the Morn. As their business flourished with their hard work, it brought new opportunities in Saugus , Ontario, and ultimately the Central Valley. Jennie loved shopping. If shopping was a sport, she would be a world champion. Instead of keeping her shopping finds, Jennie loved to give them away. It brought her so much joy. Jennie also loved walking. Many years ago, she started walking every morning in Chino with some of her friends. Over the years, her special group of "Sole Sisters" have traveled all over the world on walking tours. Jennie also embraced Feike's love for Friesian horses. This passion has taken them through out the United States. It brought them many of their lifelong friends. Jennie also loved to travel. Cruises with friends were some of her favorites. Jennie never knew a stranger. She was granted the spiritual gift of hospitality and she used it freely. Her numerous friends are a testament to that.Jennie is survived by her husband Feike and their four children, her 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, whom all were so precious to her. She is also survived by sister Auk Vander Dussen, sister-in-law Margie Hoekstra, brother Louie (Neadie) Hoekstra, sister Clara (John) Groet, brother Pier(Debbie) Hoekstra, sister Wilma (Don) Van Dam, sister-in-law Alieda Den Ouden, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, survived by Feike's siblings, Pete (Ida) De Boer of Tulare, Douwe (Jantsje) De Boer, Tiny (Cor) Politiek, Akky Van Veen, Wies Wiers-ma, Willem (Eelkje) De Boer and Siet (Siebe) Anema all of The Netherlands. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace Hoekstra and her brothers Ed Hoekstra and George Hoekstra and also Feike's parents, Willem and Yeb De Boer.The family would like to thank Kare Dolls, Visiting Angels and especially the staff and caregivers at Quail Park. We will forever be grateful for their dedication and compassionate care .Jennie valued Christian education.
