KAUFMAN, JeffreyJeffrey S. Kaufman of Miami, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Memorial Regional in Hollywood, Florida. He was 77 years old. He was born on September 13, 1939 in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from the prestigious Western Reserve Academy, he attended and was a graduate of the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania in 1961, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law in 1964. Mr. Kaufman moved to Miami, Florida with his family to attend law school and he stayed there after graduating. Mr. Kaufman also enjoyed residing part time for over 20 years in Semiahmoo in Washington State. He was successful in many different business ventures over the years, but his greatest professional enjoyment was serving as a financial advisor for decades for many loyal and appreciative clients, family and friends. He was a supporter of many causes over the years, including Western Reserve Academy and Jewish Federation, and served on the Board of St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, Washington. Mr. Kaufman was an avid lover and collector of art and antiques and owned a gallery with his wife Areta for many years Mr. Kaufman is survived by his beloved wife Areta Kaufman, as well as their children, Jennifer Kaufman Lesser and her husband Gary, Jeffrey S. Kaufman and his wife Julie, John Kaufman, Jerome Kaufman, Judi Lubel and her husband Gary, Neal Adler and his wife Laurie, and Alan Hurwitz. He is also survived by his mother Janet Kaufman, and his brothers James Kaufman and Joel Kaufman. He is also survived by grandchildren J.J. Kaufman, Jacqueline "Lilly" Kaufman, Jacob Kaufman, Julia Kaufman, Lillian Lesser, Josie Lesser, Rebecca Lesser, Ashley Birong, Jamie Levenshon, Carly Levenshon, Norah Adler, and great-grandchildren Hannah Fitzgerald, Abigail Zichella, Caroline Birong, and Benjamin Flaherty. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 12:30PM at Temple Israel in Akron, Ohio, followed by a graveside service at Rosehill Burial Park in Akron, Ohio, Additionally, there will be a Shiva on Monday night, November 21, 2016 at from 5:30PM until 9:00PM, with minyan services at 7:00PM at the home of Jennifer and Gary Lesser. There will also be a service at Temple Judea in Miami at 3:00PM on Friday, November 25, 2016, followed by a memorial at the Gables Club immediately thereafter.
