MUNISING - Jean Marie Monette, age 88, of Munising and former resident of Racine, died late Saturday evening, September 21, 2013 at Munising Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 18, 1925 in Munising, Michigan. Jean lived in Racine and was employed at S.C. Johnson Wax. She worked in various positions in the Credit and Account Receivables Department and retired in 1989. Jean was a life member of the All Saints Healthcare VIP Hospital Auxiliary, the S.C. Johnson Twenty Year Club, and a Forty + Year member of the Racine Chapter IAAP where she also served as Secretary. She was active at various duties at the former St. Rose Parish in Racine. She moved back to Munising in 2001. Jean is survived by her sister - Ruth Ann (Jim) Cox of Munising; her brothers – Arthur “Joe” Monette, Jr. of Munising and Donald Monette of Williamston; and thirteen nieces and nephews and their families. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church in Munising at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jean’s great love for books, memorials are requested to be made to the Munising Public Library, 810 State Highway M-28 – Suite A, Munising, MI 49862.
