Jean JenkinsDecember 15, 1928 - August 22, 2014Jean Jenkins, 85 of Parma, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014, with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Parma Chapel. A viewing will also be held in the Relief Society room at the church prior to services beginning at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will immediately follow at Roswell Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.comJean was born on December 15, 1928 in Hull, Yorkshire, England. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Alfred, Jr and Ivy Clarice Collins. She was raised in England and married the late Eric William Daniel Garnett in 1948. Together they had six children, Ian (Sara) Garnett, Christine (Cliff) Wolfe, Michael (Brenda) Garnett, Anne (Guy) Steele, Pru (Bob) Munsey and Russell (Sharon) Garnett. They came to the United States in 1963 and later divorced. Utilizing the education she obtained while in England, Jean supported her young family working in the nursing field for many years. She had a deep love for her cats and dogs and extended that love to wild birds as well. All who knew her understood that her pets were the center of her life! Jean always had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed living in several different places across the US including Alaska, Arizona, Michigan, Idaho and Utah. In 1987, she returned to Idaho and married Merle Jenkins. They spent 19 wonderful years together until he passed away. Through this marriage, she gained four step daughters, Phyllis, Linda, Cheryl, and Bunny. Jean loved to garden and could grow anything she desired but was especially talented in growing roses. Her yard was filled with vibrant colors and she rototilled the soil on her own until almost 80 years old. She was also very fond of knitting and created many beautiful pieces. Over the years, many of her kids, 16 grandkids, 30 great-grandkids, and Primary children that she taught at church received blankets, baby blessing dresses, hats and scarves that she had knitted with love. She served the LDS church in many callings and spent countless hours researching and documenting her family history. Jean loved to read and always had a good book on hand along with the many books on her shelves - most of them about cats and dogs!Jean lived a life full of challenges, but her strong will and determination helped turn them into growth opportunities and incredible stories later on for her family and friends to enjoy. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her children and so many family members and friends.
