WATERLOO – Janice Stern, 63, of Waterloo, died on Sunday, October 9, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital of cardiac arrest.She was born on Feb. 9, 1953 in Independence, the daughter of Leonard Harold and Flora Bell (McGill) Kuhn.Janice graduated from Jefferson High School in Independence; she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1975.She married John "Joe" Stern on March 9, 1984 in Waterloo. Janice worked as a photographer for 25 years.Survivors include her husband, John "Joe" Stern of Waterloo; son, Jesse Stern of Waterloo; sister, Marilyn (Allan) Oline of Independence; brother, Harold "Hal" Kuhn of Waukesha, Wis.; two nieces: Michele (John) Shonka of Papillion, Neb., and Laurie (Joel) Clausen of Otsego, Minn.; four nephews, David Oline of Hopkins, Minn., Danny (Amber) Oline of West Branch, Ryan Kuhn of Milwaukee, Wis., and Scott Kuhn of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and seven cats: Wylie, Quartz, Twinkie, Sugar, Lovey, Bootsie, and One Eyed Jack.Preceded in death by her parents; and a sister in infancy, Margaret Elaine Kuhn.Services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel. Burial will take place in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.Visitation on Friday, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel.
