Janet Arlene Evans-Calloway, 55, of Hastings, Florida, was born on Monday, Oct. 9, 1961, to John Jasper Evans Sr. and Myrtle B. Evans in Palatka, Florida; and died on March 2, 2017. She attended Hastings Elementary School and Hastings High School graduating in the Class of 1979. On Feb. 12, 1982, she married her high school sweetheart, Laurence Calloway. To this union four children were born. Janet joined the Wal-Mart family in 1986; where she spent 15 years there as an employee. After retiring from retail and no longer wanting to be a stay at home mom and wife, she began working with the St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department where she was employed for 15 years and was currently employed at the time of her death. Janet was a well-known woman in the community of Hastings and her smile brighten everyone's day. Preceding her in death were: Father, John Jasper Evan Sr. and granddaughter; Ashanti Smith. To cherish her memories: devoted husband of 34 years; Laurence Calloway; daughters, Yolanda (Cortney) Smith, St. Augustine, Florida, Jaleesa (Dylana) Galery, Green Cove Springs, Florida; sons, Lawrence Calloway Jr., Connecticut, Michael (Chantel) Calloway Sr., Palatka; mother, Myrtle Evans; and a host of grandchildren, sisters, brothers, godchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended friends and family. A Homegoing Celebration will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at The Walter E. Harris Community Gym. Viewing will take place 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Coleman's Mortuary Chapel.
