James William ClancyNaplesJames William Clancy of Naples, Florida, passed peacefully on June 16, 2017. Jim was born on November 24, 1944, in Syracuse, New York to the late David and Laura (Mosher) Clancy. He attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic High School in Syracuse and then Kent State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. While at Kent State, he met a fellow student, Barbara Lonas, who became his best friend and life partner. Jim and Barbara were married on September 28, 1968 at St. Paul's Church in Navarre, Ohio. After graduation, Jim and Barbara moved to Akron, Ohio, where they resided until 1985. Jim, an avid sports fan, coached and sponsored Little League baseball and youth soccer teams of his children, friends and neighbors. After many family vacations to the Naples area, the Ohio blizzard of 1984 convinced Jim to leave the cold behind and make Naples his family's permanent home. After an early retirement, Jim, always the entrepreneur, obtained a Community Association Manager (CAM) license and managed several local communities including Longshore Lake and Pelican Marsh from which he retired in 2010 as Foundation Manager. Jim is also survived by many close nieces, nephews and friends.
