WALLACE, Dr. James M.Dr. James Morrison Wallace, MBCHB (Edinburgh '67) passed away December 25, 2016 in Ottawa after a long struggle with Heart Disease at the age of 75. Dear Father of Fiona Wallace, Lindsay Wallace (Sam Scratch) and James Wallace (JinSuk Shim) and Grandfather to Bill and Emily Scratch and Callum Wallace. Jim was the eldest son of William David Wallace and Barbara Cowan Morrison of Ayrshire, Scotland (deceased). Brother to Ian, David (deceased) and Alastair Wallace of the United Kingdom. He was the former Husband of Dr. Evelyn Wallace and former partner of Dr. Chistina Hill (deceased). Acting stepfather to Tina Hill (Graham Ragan) and Harald Koch (Michaela Koch). Acting grandfather to Jack and Sean Ragan and Gareth and Charlotte Koch. Good friend to Taimi Villesmoo of Estonia. Jim Wallace was born on July 10, 1941 in Oakham Rutland, where his father was stationed during WWII. He spent his childhood in Troon and Nairn, Scotland and in Germany. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh as a Physician in 1967 and began a very successful career. Jim started his medical career in the West Indies, working as a Physician in Barbados and Grenada. Moving to Canada in October 1970, he worked as a General Practitioner in Greenwood, Nova Scotia throughout the 1970's, where he helped deliver more than 200 babies. In 1980 Jim joined Transport Canada as a Medical Officer in the Civil Aviation Department. He had a long career in Government, retiring finally with the title of Senior Consultant, Policy and Planning Transport Canada. He was also the Chairman of the Aviation Medical Review Board, and a part time member of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada. Jim was a member of the Aerospace Medical Association, and the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine, and a member of the Canadian Medical Association. In his spare time Jim was an intrepid traveller, having visited a vast number of countries. He enjoyed scuba diving, sailing, fine food, and was a proud Scot all his life. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on January 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 Mcleod Street, (at O'Connor), Ottawa from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12 noon, followed by a Reception. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.
