MONT VERNON - James W. Whipple of Mont Vernon died peacefully on Nov. 2, 2016, at the age of 70, after a lengthy illness.Affectionately known to both friends and family as ""The Warden"", Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara (Smith) Whipple, of Mont Vernon; a son, Frank R. Whipple, of New Boston; daughters Shaunna Taylor and her husband, George, of Candia, Kathleen Whipple of Mont Vernon, and Diane Whipple of Mont Vernon; brother George C. Whipple and wife Jackie of Francestown, Stephen Whipple and wife Sandy of New Boston, and his sister, Dorothy, and husband Alfred Hebert of Manchester.He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Richard F. Whipple and Frank R. Whipple, both in their youth, as well as his recently deceased brother, David F. Whipple of Francestown.Like his siblings, he was also a proud and generous uncle to 15 of his nieces and nephews.Jim was born on April 3, 1946, to Mr. and Mrs. Francis and Sylvia (Chandler) Whipple of New Boston. He attended New Boston High School and graduated from West High School of Manchester.He was also a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.After 37 years of service with the State of New Hampshire Dept. of Transportation in District 5, he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor. Most recently, Jim served in the role of Selectman in the town of Mont Vernon; and was also a former member of the New Boston Artillery Company.The Warden was hard-working, believed in a strong work-ethic and was well-known for possessing a high degree of integrity, and a strong character. He was a kind, compassionate person who always put others before himself. He loved to take his nephews fishing in his favorite fishing holes, and took every opportunity he could to deep sea fish. When the season arrived, you could find him deer hunting locally. He also enjoyed various hunting trips throughout his life with his brothers in Pennsylvania and in Canada. He will be missed incredibly..SERVICES: Calling hour will be on Nov. 5, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast St., Goffstown, N.H. There will be a private graveside service at the Greenlawn Cemetery.
