VALLEY CENTER-Cochran, James Edward 72, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2015. James was born on January 10, 1943, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Dale and Alice Cochran. He is a proud graduate of both Southeast High School and Wichita State University. Jim served the community at the Wichita Recreation Department, and as a Wichita Police officer, prior to going into the Bingo and Real Estate business. He was an avid ham radio operator and Dxer, winning many national awards. He was a family man, who took his greatest joy from the time he spent with his grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed going to Las Vegas, and was known to let it ride on a hot streak. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Robert James Cochran. His survivors include his wife, Janice Froelich Cochran of 52 years; children, Julie Sirignano (Anthony), Jill Bourne (Tracy), and John Cochran; seven grandchildren, Gabrielle, Sawyer, Cadence, Sonny, Piper, Jocelyn, and Jaeden; along with his sisters, Marcella (Randy) Scheltgen and Georgenna (Bud) Malone. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the World Wide Ham Radio Operators Foundations. Visitation with family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, and Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, both held at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center.
