James Charles Schmidt, Jr. passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his home in Madisonville, LA. He was born on October 13, 1941 in New Orleans, LA to the late James Charles Schmidt, Sr. and Dominica Randazzo Schmidt. James is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah M. Schmidt. He was the loving father of James "Jim" Schmidt, III, Bonnie Sue Schmidt, Tracy Dawn Schmidt, and Leo Glen Young Schmidt. James was the proud grandfather of William, Jessica, Tiffany, Samantha, and Dawson. He will be dearly missed by his three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Glynn Gunter, George Schmidt, the late Merrill Schmidt, and Matthew Schmidt. James will be sorely missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will take place at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.
