GOOD SR. James "Jim" Tucker Good Sr., 95, Springfield, Missouri, died at Sonshine Manor on September 4, 2016. He was born on June 10, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim graduated from North High School in Wichita, Kansas at age 16 in 1938. He skipped the 8th grade. He graduated from Kansas University in Lawrence in 1942. He joined the Navy, but because doctors were needed during WW II, the Navy deferred service until he graduated from medical school. He graduated cum laude from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1945. After a one year internship, he served active duty in the Navy from 1946-1948. While in Seattle, Washington from 1949-1951, he completed a residency in internal medicine. He was in private practice in Springfield, Missouri at the Smith, Glenn, Calloway Clinic from 1951-1959. He completed a pathology residency in Kansas City from 1959- 1962. From 1962-1991 he served as a pathologist in Fort Scott, Kansas. Jim was the youngest child of Wallace Good, Jr. and Grace (Tucker) Good. His brothers, Wallace "Jack" Good III and Claude Beverly "Bev" Good, died before him. Jim met his future bride at KU in April, 1941. Margaret "Peggy" Elizabeth Boyle, the youngest of four children, married Jim on October 4, 1942 in Lawrence, Kansas. They remained married for 65 years, until Peggy's death in 2007 at age 84. Jim is survived by five children: James T. Good, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Michael I. Good of Springfield, Missouri, Stephen E. Good of Topeka, Kansas, Mary Ann Good of Oswego, Kansas, and Thomas P. Good of Leawood, Kansas. He is survived by four grandchildren: Mathew B. Good, Jaimie T. Good, Daniel I. Good, and Benjamin P. Good; and by three great grandchildren, Campbell, Sydney and Jack Tucker Good. Jim loved life, people, adventure, hunting, fishing, horses, cattle, medicine and aviation, but most of all he loved his family and his dear wife Peggy. His life's dreams and accomplishments were always directed to inspire and encourage his family. Because of this great man, we are all better people.
