ZICKAFOOSE JACKIE DUANE ZICKAFOOSE (Age 74) Of Hedgesville, passed peacefully at his home on December 6, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 19, 1942 in Longacre, WV, a coal-mining town. He was the son of Basil Clyde Zickafoose and Patsy Ruth (Skaggs) Zickafoose. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Kaye Zickafoose. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Alice Mae (Johnson) Zickafoose; son, James Zickafoose and his wife, Linda, of Allentown, PA; son, Brian Zickafoose and his wife, Lisa, of Powhatan, VA; son, Bruce Zickafoose and his wife, Deb, of Powhatan, VA; daughter, Angela (Zickafoose) Silvers and her husband, Rick of Hagerstown, MD; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Basil Lee Zickafoose and his wife, Irene, of Lantana, FL; sister, Ilona Morris, of Hugheston, WV; sister, Brenda Light and her husband, David, of Oak Hill, WV; sister, Marsha Auxier and her husband, Jim, of Oak Hill, WV; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He retired from The Smithsonian Institution in March 1999, after 34 years of service. His career began in Grants and Contracts, traveling to many satellite stations. He was in Accounting Operations and for a brief period, Payroll. He played an essential part in the installation and set-up of the accounting system computers. He concluded his career at The Smithsonian Institution as a Senior Budget Analyst. After retirement, he was involved in many community organizations, and advocated for environmental issues in Berkeley County, WV. A loving and giving husband, father, and grandfather, his family was always his priority. In addition, he was a father-figure to countless other children throughout the years. He loved traveling with his beloved wife, visiting friends, family, and historical sites throughout the US and abroad. He had a passion for woodworking, spending hours in his workshop constructing many heirlooms for family and friends. He was also a devoted Redskins and Orioles fan, a passion which he shared with his sons. Family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Rosedale Funeral Home, 917 Cemetery Road, Martinsburg, WV. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1pm with Pastor Bill Barnett and Pastor Todd Morris officiating. Interment will be in Tomahawk Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 103 Presbyterian Church Road, Hedgesville, WV. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the services at Hedgesville Church, 6867 Hedgesville Road, Hedgesville, WV.
