Irene C. Edwards, 81, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the home of her son in Veyo, Utah. Irene was born on October 15, 1927, in Blufton, Minnesota. Irene married Ray Edwards, in 1946 in Minnesota. Where they farmed until relocating to Yuma in 1965. Irene graduated from Yuma High in 1973 with a GED. She worked for the Yuma School District One as a cafeteria manager until she retired. Irene enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, gardening, making wedding cakes, large family gatherings and making hand embroidered quilts for the grand babies as well as sewing things for her family. Irene was survived by her sons; Doug (Gale) Edwards, Phil (Claudia) Edwards both of Yuma, Tim (Robin) Edwards of Veyo, Utah, Tom (Melanie) Edwards of St. George, Utah; daughters, Carol (Ben) Boggs and Cindy (Bob) Carey both of Yuma; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ray; grandsons, Justin Edwards and Christopher Boggs. Irene will be greatly missed! A wake will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Sunday, April 5, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
