Inez KarlakBrandonInez Esther Fenton Karlak passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17th, 2017.Visitation will be Tuesday, March 21st from 5-7pm at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 22nd at 11am at Lakewood Funeral Home and preceded by visitation at 10am. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.Inez was born on March 2nd, 1918 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, weighing a mere three pounds. Given little to no chance of surviving at birth, Inez would go on to live a rich, fulfilling life of ninety-nine years. She grew up in Janesville, Wisconsin, and her family later moved to Chicago, Illinois.She married Anthony ("Tony") William Karlak in Chicago in 1935. The Karlaks moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1942. They had two children, Robert ("Bob") and Kathryn. During World War II, Inez worked in the wartime production industry in Jackson. The Karlaks owned and operated Bake Brite Paint & Body Shop, located on N. Mill Street, for many years. Inez served as the office manager at Bake Brite until she and Tony retired in the 1980s. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church.Inez was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Florence Fenton; her husband, Anthony William Karlak; her son, Robert William Karlak; and her daughter, Kathryn Karlak Newman. Survivors include grandchildren Alan Karlak (Carol), Laura Ostrem (Steve), Karen Walker (Calvin), Lisa Hott (Wes), and Nickie Minor (Wilson). She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
