Ignacio V. Lucero (Boss), 93, of Las Vegas and former resident of Buena Vista and Los Alamitos, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016.He was born on June 7, 1923, in Los Alamitos, NM to Rosario Lucero and Antonia Garcia Lucero.Igancio was loved and greatly admired and will be greatly missed.He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Lucero; parents: Rosario and Antonia Lucero; Dolores Martinez; Ronald Martinez.He is survived by a special granddaughter: June Martinez and great-grandson: Jake Cordova; children: Ignacio Jr., John, Janette, Consuelo, Barbara, Christine, Larry and wife, Henrietta, and Desiree, Johnny and wife, Ruby, and family, Patsy and Panchito, Roberta, Pamela and family; numerous: grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.He was a veteran of the United States Army and served proudly in World War II overseas. He received many decorations and citations and was honorably discharged upon completion of service. He had a successful career as a building contractor until his retirement in 1997 with Lumar Construction, Inc.Ignacio enjoyed spending time with family and friends telling stories about his life experiences and adventures and telling his jokes. He loved to cook, bake and enjoyed fishing and camping.Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday), also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Douglas Mitchell as Celebrant. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe with the following serving as casket bearers: Jake Cordova, Melvin Herrera, James Padilla, Julius (Buck) Padilla, Martin Romero, Jack Roper and Lucas Sanchez.
