Heinzen, IdaIda Heinzen, age 104, a Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.She was born on January 20, 1913 in the Town of Cato, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Charles and Sophia (Vogel) Brandl. Ida was employed at Dunnings Grocery Store before she was married. On June 22, 1937 she married Norbert W. Heinzen at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Ida farmed on the family farm with her husband for many years. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1984. She volunteered making meals at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ida also volunteered at the Manitowoc Senior Center, was a past member of Christian Mothers of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Knights and also enjoyed playing sheepshead with various card clubs and friends. Survivors include five sons and three daughters-in-law: Bill & Judy Heinzen, Charles & Bonnie Heinzen, Jerry & Gloria Heinzen, Gene Heinzen, Tony Heinzen; one daughter: Grace Fierst, all of Manitowoc; 14 grandchildren: Sue (Steve) Holschbach, Mark (Debbie) Heinzen, Cheryl (Lee) Daley, Cindy (Bret) Blizzard, Christy (Scott) Rosinsky, Debbie (Len) Rentmeester, Carrie (Keith) Gauthier, Kathie (Ryan) Eiden, Joseph (Angie) Heinzen, Mike Heinzen, Becky (Troy) Heuvelmans, Sara (Aaron) Sprang, Doug Fierst, Brian (Megan) Fierst; 30 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Marvin Fierst; five brothers and five sisters-in-law: Ed & Aurelia Brandl, Alfred & Florence Brandl, Kenneth & Lorraine Brandl, Walter & Evelyn Brandl, Reinhardt & Geneva Brandl; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Hilda & Nick Schiesl, Florence & Vic Siehr; and a brother-in-law: Joseph Miller.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alverno.The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 until 10:45 a.m.In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ida's name.The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, especially the Tender Reflections Wing, for the compassionate care extended to Ida and her family.
