Howard is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon; his three daughters Bonnie (Jeff), Kim and Lisa; six grandchildren, Owen, Addison, Jonah, Harper, Ellie and Brooks; and his sisters Diane and Lynne (Jim).

Howard was born on February 3, 1947, in Frederick Maryland, where he graduated from Middletown High School in 1965. After graduating from The University of Maryland with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business, Howard began his long career with Exxon initially in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with several assignments between there and the Houston area, finally ending up in Kingwood in 1995. Upon retiring, Howard dabbled in real estate where he enjoyed helping neighbors and friends.

Howard thrived in helping others and being involved in as much as possible. He was deeply committed to his church, Strawbridge United Methodist Church, from serving on the missions committee to singing in the choir, and everything in between. Habitat for Humanity held a place deep in his heart where he helped build homes for those in need in the community. He was an active member of the Exxon/Mobil Retiree Club of Lake Houston, as chair of the programs committee, planning outings and gatherings for the club.

Enjoying jaunts across the globe with Sharon and his travel buddies, Howard loved experiencing new places and immersing himself into other cultures. When possible, they would go to their second home in Pagosa Springs, Colorado for some R&R. Howard was a giver in every facet of his life, and loved spending as much time with his family as possible. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and the most wonderful grandfather. Howard embodied joy and lived each day to its absolute fullest.
