A memorial service will follow at the Hawley Church of Christ, 410 4th Street.Henry Charles (HC) Scott was born on March 4, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, To Joseph Edward and Bessie Mildred Assiter Scott. He married Bonnie Bullard Scott on July 3, 1962, in Odessa, TX. They were united in marriage by Billie George Love, a long-time friend of the Bullard family and minister for the Church of Christ. After their marriage, HC and Bonnie lived in Lubbock, Texas, Hobbs, NM, Sheffield, Texas, Corona, NM, Goldsmith, Texas, Anton, Texas, Abilene, Texas and Hawley, Texas.HC was baptized into Christ in 1973 at the Pecos River Encampment at Sheffield, TX. He and Bonnie were active members of the Church of Christ in the communities where they lived. He worked in the oil and gas industry in west Texas and New Mexico and was a self-employed welder in the farming community of Anton, TX. Following in his paternal grandfather's footsteps, he was a correctional officer for the State of Texas in Huntsville and Abilene. He owned a hardware and feed store in Hawley and served two terms on the Hawley city council. HC also supervised a complete home makeover in Hawley from demolition to move in, for a lady who needed a new home.Henry was a multi-talented man. Every project he began, he read about and studied until he became knowledgeable of that subject. Henry had a mechanical mind and, if given a little time, could figure out how to fix or build just about anything. HC cared deeply for people and didn't say as much, but he showed his caring spirit by doing things for others. While he had the hardware store open, his regular routine was to make the rounds of downtown Hawley, including the beauty shop, city hall and bank to check on the ladies who operated those businesses. He felt that since he was one of a few men who were downtown during the day, those women needed to know that someone was watching over them.Left to treasure his memory include his wife, Bonnie Scott; children, Carla Berry and husband, Buddy, Toni Jezisek and husband, Eddy, Tom Scott and wife, Tamara and Dana Willeford and husband, Jim; twelve grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.HC was preceded in death by his parents; His brother, Bill Scott; two grandchildren, Jamous Jezisek and Bailey Scott.
