Helmut Stanosek Obituary

Sep 13, 1929 - Jan 02, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Helmut Stanosek was born on Friday, September 13, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Joseph and Franciska. He joined brothers, Werner and George, followed by his only sister, Charlotte and brothers, Fritz and Ernie. Dad served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was an Army signal corpsman. After the war he came west and settled in the Pacific Northwest. Marrying Helen Cunningham in 1957, he became a parent to Kathy and Jimmy. A few years later daughter, Nancy was born and a son, Mike. Helmut and Helen purchased a home on Hat Island 20 some years ago. Overgrown with blackberries and home to many mice, they kicked the mice out and transformed it into "Paradise". Dad spent many joyous years with our mom living on their boat, the Mic-Ann, and traveling back and forth between Everett, Hat Island, and the San Juan's. Dad was well known on Hat Island, as one of only 40 or so strong souls, who lived there year round. He chopped his own wood, put a new roof on the house, and thoroughly enjoyed the solitude and peace the island brought him. No amount of persuasion could convince him to move off of Paradise. We love you so much dad and you will be greatly missed.
