HELEN ROSALIE ENNIS 1923 - 2016Preston - Helen Rosalie Przylucki Ennis passed away on December 13, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 3, 1923 in Norwich to Frank and Rose (Palczewski) Przylucki. She grew up on Roath Street and attended St. Joseph School and Norwich Free Academy. At age 19, she was employed at Remington Arms in Bridgeport and met her future husband, Jim Ennis II.The couple became engaged before Jim's service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. When the war ended, Jim was sent home on leave. Helen and Jim planned their wedding in one week and were married on September 29, 1945 at St. Joseph Church in Norwich. The couple lived in Bridgeport and had four children. While Jim worked long hours with the Bridgeport Fire Department, Helen was devoted to her children. When Jim retired, they moved to their summer home on Amos Lake in Preston. They traveled all over the country but spent most of their time at their home-away-from-home in Bradenton, Florida.Helen will be most remembered by her love and dedication to her family, especially her husband of 71 years, Jim. She will be missed by her sons and their wives, Jim and Dorothy Ennis, Frank and Nancy Ennis, and Ken and Gale Ennis, and her favorite daughter Patricia Ennis. Also, her grandchildren, Courtney Ennis, Kelly Ennis-Davis, Matthew Ennis, Jennifer Winton, Chelsea Grabarek, and Mallarie Seidel and her great grandchildren Nicholas and Emily Winton, Andrea Helen Davis, and Nico Ennis. Helen is predeceased by her sisters, Mary Przylucki, Fran Afieri, and Claire Guiher, brother Joseph Przylucki, cousin Josephine Pytko, grandson Jim Ennis IV, and niece Christine Alfieri. Visitation will be held Sunday (Dec 18th) from 5-8pm at the Labenski Funeral home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT. We will assemble again at the funeral home Monday (Dec 19th) from 8:30am to 9:30am and then proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Sienna in Preston with burial immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Catherine's Church, Preston, Preston City Volunteer Fire Department, Preston, or the Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT. 06360.
