Payton, Helen "Jean"Helen Jean Payton, age 84, of Shiocton, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at St. Paul Elder Care in Kaukauna. Jean was born on July 21, 1932, to the late Homer and Esther (Laird) Thompson. She grew up on a farm, as the oldest of 5 girls, in the Town of Center. Jean graduated from Shiocton High School in 1950. On June 17, 1972, Jean was united in marriage to Neale Payton. Jean was a member at First Congregational Church in Shiocton, where she played the organ for many years and was an active member of Willing Workers. She worked at Valley Bank in Shiocton, until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, sewing and cooking. She loved well and will be missed dearly.Jean is survived by her children; Shirley (Greg) Popp, Colleen (Bob) Kobs, Richard (Nancy) Immel, Don Immel, Charlotte (Lorne) Williams and Steve Immel; sisters, Betty (Henry) Sausen, Fay (Willard) Schultz and Patty (George) Ronk; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Twila Wentzel and Dorothy Theede; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neale; son, Larry Immel; daughter, Tina Slempkes; grandson, Chris Scott and sister, Ann Knoke.Funeral services for Jean will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at First Congregational Church in Shiocton, with Rev. Michael Isbill officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Shiocton-Bovina Cemetery, Town of Bovina.
