Helen Ortega, 85, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, was called by our Lord on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014. She was born on Nov. 29, 1928, to the late Francisco Garcia and Beatrice Velasquez who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Alfonso Ortega in 1948. Helen enjoyed spending time with friends and family, listening to Spanish music and was known for keeping an immaculate home.Among her parents she is also preceded in death by her sons, Richard and David Garcia, and daughters, Margaret Garcia, Mary Lou and Barbara Ortega.Helen is survived by her husband, Alfonso Ortega; daughters, Lorraine, Dorothy and Josie Ortega; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.Funeral services for Helen will be held today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church as follows: Rosary service will begin and 9 a.m., followed by celebration of the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery.Go to www.nelsonfuneralhomelv.com for online condolences.
