Hattie Elizabeth RoseNEWARK: Hattie Elizabeth "Betty" Rose passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, after a brief illness from colon cancer, to begin her new journey. Betty was born on August 24, 1922, to Alonzo and Ruth (Whiton) Hankinson, in Newark, Ohio. She graduated from Newark High School in 1940. Betty was one of the original founders of the Licking County Genealogical Society and was a volunteer for over 50 years. Her favorite pastime was spent with her husband, Gordon, traveling the country in their Airstream. Betty was a family person and lived to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by her daughter Elinor Rose, son-in-law Timothy Gano; adopted daughter Joyce Dickinson and daughter-in-law Shelia Rose. She is also survived by grandchildren, Lance (Stephanie) Rose, Mandy (Jared) Jenkins, Kaitlyn (Doug) Edelbrock, Cody Rose, Justin (Nikkii) Gano and Heather (Rob) Whitmore. She had 12 great-grandchildren, Mable Rose, Porter and Raylin Jenkins, Zoey Edelbrock, Carson, Cole, Caden and Juliaunna Gano and Key, Kydin, Kason and Ketryn Whitmore. Betty is also survived by nieces and nephews and her cat Sammy.Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, sons Larry and Randy, brother Larry McIntyre, sisters Erma Hanna and Alice George.A funeral service will be held at 2pm, on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, in Newark. Pastor Kim Trimboli will officiate.
