Harvey R. Nevins passed away peacefully on Nov.2, 2016. Harvey was born on July 9, 1925 in Bridgeport, Conn. At the age of 16 he joined the Louis Prima Orchestra until he enlisted in the army in 1943. When he was discharged, he resumed playing with the band. While traveling with the Big Bands, he met his soul mate Sandy. They were married in 1949 and had a wonderful 58 years together until he lost her to cancer in 2007. They moved to Miami in 1960. He played in the band at the Deauville Hotel on Miami Beach and backed up such greats as Sammy Davis, Jr., Mitzi Gaynor, Wayne Newton, Jimmy Durante, Frank Sinatra and many more. He taught music lessons and began a business career with H&S Music Co. which evolved into Harvey's Appliance & T.V. for retail and export sales. When he retired, he picked up his horns again to do what he loved most, playing music. Harvey was the most kind, generous, witty, and charming person who lived life to the fullest. His family was most dear to him as he was the most loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather we could have ever wished for. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him, but his music will live on forever as will his memory in our hearts.
