TOPEKA — Harry W. Neff III, age 64, of Topeka, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 7 p.m. at home. He was born on April 20, 1951 to Harry W. Jr. and Virginia Almera (Meyer) Neff in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On October 5, 1991, he married the love of his life, Nancy Shisler-Glant, in Kimmell. She survives. He attended school in South Bloomfield, Ohio, until his 7th grade when his family moved to Wolcottville, Indiana. Harry graduated from Lakeland High School in 1969 while working at his Uncle John Strombeck's garage in Wolcottville. Harry was proud to be a long haul truck driver for 41 years, delivering to 48 U.S. states and many providences in Canada. His driving career included driving for Jayco in Middlebury, then Kidd Company in Ligonier, ending with Gaska Tape out of Elkhart, driving his dream truck, a 379 Peterbilt. He accumulated 5,226,000 safe driving miles, with no chargeable accidents. That is approximately 210 trips around the Earth. He then followed his lifelong dream and opened Neff's Gunshop which he was very proud of and met many new friends. Harry loved to be outdoors cutting wood, shooting, hunting, fishing - especially ice fishing, and setting around a camp fire. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Topeka; one son, Harry W. 'Buzzy' Neff IV; a daughter, Gena Miller of LaGrange; his wonderful grandchildren, Maranda A. (Tyler) Randol of Wolcottville, Colton M. Miller of Topeka, Sierra D. Miller of Topeka, Adison D. Miller of LaGrange, and Haley J. Neff of Kendallville; his sweet great-grandchildren, Almera M. Randol of Wolcottville and Crue M. Miller of Topeka; two sisters, Nanetta (Rex) Munson of LaGrange and Natalie Sturgis of Kendallville; his in-laws, Roger (Wendy) Shisler of Balton Spa, New York, Renee Dodson, Rex (Kathy) Shisler, Ned Shisler, Nelda (Gilbert) Owen, Carol (Tim) Lock all of Albion, Indiana, Rita Steele of Kimmell, and Norma (Gary) Watson of Gas City, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wonderful friend and partner in crime, Raymond (Carol) Salzbrun of Wawaka. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Harry W. 'Scooter' Neff V; his father and mother in-law, Duane and Alice Shisler; and three brothers-in-law, Frank Sturgis, Dave Dodson and Tom Steele. A memorial service will be held in Harry's honor on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at noon at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana, with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating. A private cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center. There will be a time of celebration of Harry's life after the service at the Elkhart Township Hall in Wawaka, Indiana. There will be a time of visitation on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m., and at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
