Harriet E. GwinHarriet E. Gwin, 89, of Lafayette, passed away at 11:49 pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Franciscan Lafayette East. She was born on May 7, 1927 in Wadena, IN. Harriet lived in Rensselaer, IN, Grand Isle, NY, Wichita, KS, Crossville, TN and Knoxville, TN before moving to Lafayette. Her marriage was to Dale L. Gwin on August 23, 1953 in Rensselaer and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1987. Harriet worked in Rensselaer in the Miniature Train Factory. She also as a bookkeeper for most her life for a manufacturing company in Grand Isle, NY, and a trucking company in Wichita, KS. She attended Wichita, KS Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Harriet was an avid dog lover and rode her own motorcycle for many years. She collected carousels and loved to travel. Harriet was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, North Star Chapter #483 in Wichita, KS. She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Anne Provo of Lafayette, and Connie Campbell (husband: Keith) of Spring Valley, CA; six nieces, Cheryl L. McCool (husband: Mike) of Lafayette, Debra Provo of Lafayette, Elaine Hughes (husband: Robert) of Lafayette, Gwen Provo-Bell (husband: Dan) of Springhill, TN, Laurie Gaylor (husband: Christopher) of Knoxville, TN, and Beverly Curo of Santee, CA; five nephews, Larry Provo of Wichita, KS, Randy Provo (wife: Sue) of West Lafayette, Timothy Provo (wife: Kathy) of South Bend, IN, Brian Provo of West Lafayette, and Steven Campbell of Santee, CA; along with many great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death with her husband is her mother, Hazel Elizabeth Mann-Claire, and step-father, Harvey Claire. Private family services. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
