WINTERVILLE - Harold V. Lane, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. He was born on December 5, 1927, in Craven County, N.C., to Virgil C. and Vivian Garris Lane. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Lane; his parents; two sons, Harold V. Lane Jr. and Ronnie L. Lane; and son-in-law, Mark Ross of Georgia. Harold is survived by his four daughters, Debbie Cannon and husband Billy, of Winterville, Gladys S. Davis and husband Glenn, of Kinston, Wanda K. Ross of Georgia, and Regina Childress and husband Duane, of Sanford; his three sons, Danny R. Lane and wife Sue, of Grifton, Kerry L. Lane of Kinston and Jeff Lane and wife Melissa, also of Kinston. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Murray Benton; and one sister, Estelle Peede. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Farmer Funeral Service-Ayden. Burial will follow in the La Grange Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, Debbie Cannon.
