Harold Ray KnudsenFREMONT: Harold Ray Knudsen, age 91, of Fremont passed away peacefully at home Monday December 5, 2016. He was born on September 18, 1925 in Fremont, Ohio to Andrew and Jesse (Smith) Knudsen. Harold graduated from Fremont Ross High School, class of 1944. Harold was honorably discharged after serving in the U S Army March 24, 1944 through May 28, 1946. He was assigned to Company B, 160th medical battalion, rank of Sergeant, Fort Lewis, Washington. He attended University of Toledo with a major in industrial management and relations. He married Carolyn Marie Haubert on February 4, 1950.Harold worked at Herbrand Fremont, OH from September 1946 through 1960, Industrial Engineer at Kaiser Jeep from 1960 through 1964. He began his career as Industrial Engineer with Woodall Industries, Dayton Marine Fremont OH 1964, promoted to a plant Superintendent 1965, and then to plant Manager 1966. He assumed plant Manager at Woodall/LOF Plastics from 1969 through 1977. From 1977 through 1979 he became Vice-President of Custom Trim Products in Cleveland, Ohio. Harold was then promoted in 1979 to Woodall/LOF Plastics headquarters in Detroit, Michigan as Vice-President of Manufacturing for Automotive Plastics plants until retiring in September 1990.Harold was an active, lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont, serving as usher, greeter, serving on church council, serving on the executive and properties committees. He was a member of the American Legion 68 years. Harold is survived by his wife Carolyn of 66 years, children Linda Knudsen, Connie Zittnan, Susan Jacobs, Mary Knudsen, William Knudsen and six grandchildren. Harold is preceded in death by his son, George Andrew, brother, Ralph, sister, Dorothy, and nephew, James.Funeral services will be held on Friday December 9th, 2016 at 1:30pm at Grace Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at noon until the time of service. Pastor Jodi Rice will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ann cemetery with military graveside rights performed by the
