KINSTON - Harold Edward Kennedy, 89, of Kinston, passed away on March 26, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. He was born on January 19, 1924, in Lenoir County, to the late Medrick and Annie Blanche Kennedy. Harold was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and loved by all who knew him. He was best known as the Service Manager of Gurley Dozier Pontiac and later Roy Jones Pontiac, both in Kinston for over 40 years. In his retirement he was a school bus driver for Arendell Parrott Academy. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church and a Gideon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helen, his sister Bernice Powell and brothers, Wheeler and Hilton Kennedy. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home; daughters Beverly DeLuise and husband Jimmy Smith, of Wilmington, Susan Turnage and husband Mike, of Morehead City; brother Linwood and wife Gaynelle, of Kinston; stepsons Whit Pope of Dunn and Marc Pope of Kinston. One of his greatest joys were his grandchildren, Suzanne Johnson of Wilmington, Zac Turnage of Morehead City, Mitch and Rachel Pope of Kinston, Tori Jordan and Kota Pope of Dunn. He was the proud Granddaddy of his great-grandchildren, Kennedy Johnson and CC Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Faith Fellowship Church, 2278 Pauls Path Road, Kinston, with visitation to follow at the church. The graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534 and Faith Fellowship Church 2278 Pauls Path Road, Kinston, NC 20504.
