Gregory Alan Jackson was born September 26, 1954 in Chicago Ill, to Frank Jackson and Augusta Burnette-Jackson.

Gregory was a Vietnam Era Veteran MP and Sharpshooter in the U.S. Army. Returning from service he attended the University of Illinois and earned a degree in Fine Arts and went on to his career in Cinematography. He married Gretchen  in 1979 and had two children Gregory Jr. and Ryan.  Greg was moved to Houston from Chicago by his Sons when he became ill in 2015, and Althought they divorced in 1989 Gretchen along with her current husband of 24 yrs, continually and lovingly cared for him in during his illness. She was at his side at the time of his death.

He was proceeded in death by his sister, Dian Jackson; and his parents, Frank and Augusta.

Gregory is survived by his sons, Gregory Alan Jackson Jr., Ryan G. Jackson nephews Anthony and DeMarrio along with his ex-wife and caregiver, Gretchen Adams.
