Greg L. Medina, 43, a longtime resident of Mora, N.M., passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, in Albuquerque. He was born on Jan. 25, 1971, in Las Vegas to Richard L. Medina and Fiddie Martinez-Medina. He was an entrepreneur in many ways, loving development of local business for the residents of Mora County. He began his first business at the age of 16, when he purchased a handful of VHS movies. He was still in high school so he set up a shelf of movies at his dad's feed-store business in Cleveland, N.M. He invested all his rental money into purchase of new movies during his high school years. He then opened his own Video Shop, "Video Master" in La Cordillera (Mora), and his business grew to over 5,000 movies. When Greg found out that the movie industry was changing to DVD's, he decided to sell all the videos and move to the first franchise in Mora County. He registered as a franchise with Pizza Pro and opened up the pizza place in Mora. He later expanded that franchise to Pro Sub. Greg also worked for Blue Sky Tours for 10 years in Albuquerque and sold Hawaii only vacations. He also sold vacations to Hawaii at his business in Mora. He had an active fireworks stand for many years. He also had a DJ business for many years. During his diagnosis of cancer, he was supported by so many in Mora County to include the Mora High School graduating class of 1989. He was loved by so many people in Mora County and surrounding counties, but especially by his family. He will be greatly missed. Vaya con Dios, Greg.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Fermin Martinez; maternal grandmother: Luisita Chacon; paternal grandparents: Jose D. and Maria Medina.He is survived by his parents: Richard and Fiddie Medina of Mora; sister: Doris Pacheco and husband, Joseph, of Mora; brother: Herman Medina and wife, Margaret, of Brighton, Colo.; partner: Andrew Padilla of Raton; nephews: Louis Pacheco and wife, Crystal; Lesley Pacheco and wife, Annette; Eric Medina and wife, Adele; Nathan Medina and wife, Linda; nieces: Kimberly Vega and husband, Jaimé; Sarah Archuleta and husband, Jacob; numerous: aunts and uncles from the Medina side and Martinez side, great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many many friends.Prayer services will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas with Pastor Tim Lucero officiating.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 28 at Mt. Calvary Assembly of God Church in Mora, with Pastor Wilfred Carrasco Officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. at The Medina Family Cemetery in Encinal (Cleveland), with Pastor Juan Romero officiating. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Eric Medina, Nathan Medina, Louis Pacheco, Lesley Pacheco, Jacob Archuleta and Dean Martinez.
