SCHMIDT, Gottholt (George) George passed away at the Kipnes Centre on November 14, 2016 at the age of 94 years. He is survived by three brothers, Gottlieb of Hanna, Hugo (Irma) of Chilliwack and Adam (Alice) of Camrose and two sisters, Frieda of Armstrong and Ida (Herb) of Chilliwack. George is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Gottlieb and Pauline and his brothers Albert and Alex. George was born on October 17, 1922 in Romania, immigrated to Canada in 1927 and settled in Hanna. At the age of 18, he joined the Army and from 1941 to 1947 was in the Princess Louise Dragoon Guards and served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a life member of the Bricklayers Union and worked at the trade from 1947 to 1987. George was also a member of the Strathcona Legion for 40 years.
