Gertrude J. Bundt June 28, 1927- January 29, 2017 Columbus, GA- Gertrude J. Bundt, 89, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Gentiva Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Family, 320 12th Street, Columbus, GA 31901; with Fr. Daniel O'Connell officiating. Rosary and visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907. Gertrude unselfishly gave of her time and spirit as a volunteer for more than 40 years. She was a Dental Tech, Hospice Volunteer, Lector, Catechism Teacher, Eucharistic Minister at church and served the homebound and shut-ins in hospitals, retirement, and nursing homes. She was President of the Prime Timers and Officer's Wives Club. She taught swimming at the YMCA and participated in the heavy gear training of US Marines. She was bestowed the Gartland Service Award by the Diocese of Savannah on November 25, 2012, and much, much, more, Gertrude was a proud military wife. Gertrude was born on June 28, 1927 and preceded in death by her parents, Johanna Linhart and Carl Garnoff; and her beloved husband Lyle Bundt. She is survived by her loving son Ray E. Bundt, daughter-in-law Kathy Bundt, brothers William Linhart and Karl Garnoff, beloved grandsons Michael and Daniel Bundt along with their wives Shannon McArdle Bundt, Christa Hoene Bundt, and great grandchildren Tyler, Brook, Brielle, Grace, Alyssa and Mikayla.
