George L. Davis, 80, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, with his wife by his side.Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, in the Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Major David Hodge of the Salvation Army officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.George was born on July 4, 1936, in Sulfur Bluff, Texas, to W.R. and Jennie (Holmes) Davis. He married Naomi Ruth Key in August 1955. This past August, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Naomi speaks of George with such love and admiration. He was the love of her life. George worked for many years as a welder until his retirement. He enjoyed making a wide variety of metal works before they were popular. His family recalls many of his projects including a set of porch chairs he made out of old tractor seats. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as often as he could. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and was especially enjoying them this season! George loved his seven fur babies. Naomi tells of him reminding her to take care of them for him.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Naomi, of the home; one daughter, Gail Bundick and husband Mike of Eunice, N.M.; one son, Terry Davis, of Lubbock; one brother, L.T.
