MANCHESTER - Gerard Treffle Provencher, 82, a longtime resident of Manchester, died Nov. 29, 2016, surrounded by the love of his family.He was born on Sept 22, 1934, the son of the late Odilon and Alice (Perrault) Provencher.He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucille, whom he married on Sept 17, 1955. Together, they raised their five children in Manchester.Gerry was a devout Catholic who lived a life of servitude to his family, God and his country. He began his career in the New Hampshire Army National Guard from 1955 to 1967 and, subsequent to his active duty, he became a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post 1624.After 35 years, he retired from International Shoe Machine Corporation and he then began his volunteer career at the Manchester Veterans Administration Hospital, where he served his treasured fellow veterans. For many years, he was a volunteer for the Parish of the Transfiguration, serving as a committee member for various fundraisers, his favorite being the annual parish fair.As a devoted father and grandfather, he most enjoyed family parties, playing games and bocce with his grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle man, and his sense of humor, along with his unexpected pranks, will be remembered by all.Gerry is survived by his five children and eight grandchildren: son Michael and his wife, Jo-An, of Manchester, daughter Joyce of Manchester, son David of Portland, Maine, daughter Theresa Reed of Windham and daughter Lynn and partner Dee Tutino of Westbrook, Maine; grandchildren Jeremy and his wife, Jessica Provencher, Nathan Provencher, Cameron, Alyson and Maddyson Provencher and Nicole Reed and Clinton Norton, Garrett Reed and Victoria Miller and Colin Reed and Taylor Cipriani. Gerry is survived by his sister, Sr. Yvette Provencher, and brother Raymond and wife Lorraine, all of Manchester.He was predeceased by brothers Herve and Maurice.The family is dearly thankful for all who lovingly cared for Gerry, The Visiting Nurse Association, Comfort Keepers and Home Instead agencies..SERVICES: Calling hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester, N.H.
