Zipperer, Gerald U.Gerald "Zip" U. Zipperer, 78, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on June 22, 1938 in Whitelaw, WI, a son of Walter and Mary (Riederer) Zipperer.On October 27, 1962 Jerry married Barbara A. Lutz at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc, WI. Jerry was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI. After graduation he joined the U. S. Army Reserve and served for eight years. He was employed as deliverer for Friedman Fruit Co. in Two Rivers, WI, until 1964. Zip then moved to Oshkosh and became a drivers' license examiner for the State of Wisconsin. After which the family moved to Fond du Lac and Zip worked for Mercury Marine and retired after thirty years. Jerry was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community, the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post 454 of Mt. Calvary and formerly of the Fond du Lac Snowfliers as well as a snowmobile safety instructor for the State. He was formerly a leader in the Scouting organization and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. Zip enjoyed just about anything he did, including deer hunting, fishing, golfing, painting, snowmobiling, bowling among many things. He loved his time with the grandsons. Jerry is survived by Barbara, his wife of 54 years; two children, Jay G. (Julie) Zipperer of Grayslake, IL and Jill G. (Glen) Levenhagen of the Town of Byron; four grandsons, Adam and Isaac Levenhagen, and Aidan and Rory Zipperer; one sister, Marge Mueller; two brothers, Leo (Margi) Zipperer and Allen (Gretchen) Zipperer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding Jerry in death are his parents; one brother, Donald; step-father, Edward Remiker and step-brother, Norbert Remiker; one brother-in-law, Loyal Mueller. Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division St., Fond du Lac on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation on Wednesday, April 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM.Service: At 12 noon on Wednesday, April 12, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the family.Online condolences may be offered at
