GERALD BORGMANN, 70 COLETA - Gerald Borgmann, age 70, of Coleta, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Jerry was born on June 7, 1943 in Freeport to Elmer and Alice (Nanninga) Borgmann. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He worked as an electrician for many years. Jerry married Kathy Merema on September 20, 2013. Jerry was known for being a ham radio enthusiast. Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Suzanne (Shea) McDonnell of Sterling and Wendy Borgmann (Ron Houzenga) of Chadwick; and two grandsons, Ryan McDonnell and Dylan Lamb. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer, Alice and Grace Polhill; and one sister in infancy. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, November 2, at the Coleta United Methodist Church. Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor David Jungnickel officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
