Georgia L. ScofesOkemosIn loving memory of Georgia L. Scofes, age 83, who passed away on January 8, 2017 at Stoneleigh Residence surrounded by her family and friends.  She was born on August 6, 1933 in Detroit, MI to James and Catherine (Kalemis) Cargas.  Georgia was a graduate of Southeastern High School in Detroit and Wayne State University.  She married George S. Scofes on July 8, 1956 to whom she was a devoted and loving wife for over 60 years.  Together, they had two children.She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Katina Dart; son, Stephen (Mary Jo) Scofes; grandchildren, William (Tianna) Dart, Arianna (Jeff) Wooledge, Morgan and McKenzie Scofes; great-grandchildren, Renee and Julian; sisters, Marjorie Lazarou, Olga (John) Drougas, and Venus (Harry) Mighion; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.  Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Perry.  Georgia will be remembered for the love she gave, her ability to bring people together and her indelible sense of humor.Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 11am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1701 E. Saginaw Street, Lansing.  A luncheon will follow the service.  The family will greet friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 4 to 7pm on Wednesday, January 11.  The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Sparrow Hospital Oncology and Hospice of Lansing-Stoneleigh for their attentiveness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Georgia's name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
