Sonntag, George Walker III,71, passed away on December 4, 2016 in Eureka, CA.George was born on March 3, 1945. He grew up in Harrods Creek, KY and graduated from Louisville Country Day and Vanderbilt University (engineering). After he served in the Army in Korea, he returned home to work at the Metropolitan Sewer District in Louisville. George moved to Eureka in the 1990's to be close to his biological family. He loved reading about history and playing softball. George was a gentle, loving man and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents George "Sonny" and Lucy Sonntag Jr. and birth parents William and Joanne Shepard. George is survived by his daughter Gayle Clements (David), sister Lucy VonRoenn, nieces Wendy Brown (Martin) and Reesey Price (Trent), and ex-wives Joanne Hammond and Betty Moulton. His brothers Greg Shepard (Cindy) and Mark Shepard (Laurel), and sisters Sue Portugal (Peter) and Melinda Fears (Mitch), as well as many nieces and nephews, also mourn his loss.Visitation will be Saturday March 4 at 11:00 a.m., followed by noon service at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road, Harrods Creek, KY.
