George C. ConwayDes MoinesGeorge C. Conway, 86, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. George was born on November 7, 1930 in Melrose, Iowa to Michael and Hanna (Hannam) Conway.George married Jennie Rita Loffredo on November 22, 1953, and together they were blessed with five children. George was one of the first real estate developers at Lake Rathbun. He was also the President and CEO of a securities investment firm as well as the founder of Conway Appraisal Service. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Izaak Walton League. George was a devout Catholic, a wonderful dedicated family man and a fiercely loyal friend. He made it his mission to never miss a celebration or life event when it came to family and friends. George also loved to travel and will be remembered as a fun loving Irishman. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jennie; children, J.J. (Michelle), Sheri (Marc) Sirios, Steve (Lori), George, Dan (Karma); sister, Dolores McDowell; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a 5th generation grandson; together with an enormous number of extended family and beloved friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry, John, Donald, James, Charlie and Harold and his sisters, Mary Sullivan, Marjorie Graham, Ellen Scott and Cecilia Paasch. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road in Des Moines. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
