Geoffrey Hemmick LIGONIER — Dr. Geoffrey Kent Hemmick, age 66, of Ligonier, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 10:32 a.m. at IU Health Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Indiana. He was born on October 12, 1948, to Robert and Dorotha (Coffel) Hemmick in Marion, Indiana. On June 2, 1968, Geoffrey married Donna Richcreek. She survives. He graduated from Oak Hill High School and went on to obtain a doctorate degree from
Indiana University School of Optometry. Mr. Hemmick served honorably in the Air Force Reserves. He had worked as an optometrist for 37 years, owning his own practice in Ligonier, Indiana. He was a member of Ligonier United Methodist Church. Mr. Hemmick enjoyed music and performed in the choir and praise band at church, and also sang with the Couriers Quartet. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and IU sports. Mr. Hemmick was a member of the Ligonier Masonic Lodge and the
Rotary Club. He was very active in the Emmaus Community and was involved in medical mission trips to Central and South America and Africa. Surviving are his wife, Donna of Ligonier; one son, Kent (Jaime Cope) Hemmick of Cincinnati; a brother, Mike Hemmick of Mansfield, Ohio; and two nephews, Matt and Rob Hemmick of Mansfield, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service in Mr. Hemmicks's honor was held Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. at The Crosswalk, 466 Townline Road, Ligonier, Indiana, with the Rev. Hubert Harriman officiating. A private cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center. Memorial services will be Saturday at noon at Stone's Hill Church, 151 W. Stones Hill Road in Ligonier. A private cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center.
