Gayle L. Houser, age 77 of Porter, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1936 in Corpus Christi to Floyd Niblett and Bess Roberts. She married the love of her life Jimmy Houser on October 7, 1956.
Gayle worked at Texaco Inc. for 27 years and retired in 1997. She was an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church and participated in UMW activities and enjoyed volunteering with the Friendship Food Pantry. She was also a member of the New Caney Garden Club. Gayle's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family including her granddaughters that she was so proud of.
Gayle is survived by her daughter Jami Smith and son-in-law Jim of Houston and sons Darren Keith Houser of Houston and James D. Houser of Porter; grandchildren Lauryn and Kaitlyn Smith; brother Lloyd Niblett (Madelyn) of LaGrange; sisters-in-law Margaret Golla of Columbus, Kay Berry (Dave) of Abilene and Sue Knesek (John) of Columbus and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James T. Houser.
Visitation was held at Rosewood Funeral Home in Porter, on Wednesday, December 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, December 12, 12 noon at Friendship United Methodist Church, 22388 Ford Road, Porter, followed by internment at Houston National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Friendship United Methodist Church, Porter.
