Gary "Russ" LenartzGary "Russ" R. Lenartz, 67, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.He was born on December 17, 1949 in Lafayette to the late Clarence F. Lenartz and Bette (Wandrei) Mitchell.Russ graduated from Jefferson High School in 1969. He entered the United States Marine Corps in August of 1969 and served until August of 1971.On November 25, 1983, he married Diane M. Gushwa in Lafayette and she survives.Russ worked as a carpenter for Talbott Enterprises and had previously worked for Alton Box Board Co aka Jefferson Smurfit in Lafayette. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to music, mushroom hunting, bird watching, nature, and photography. He was an avid Cubs fan. Russ also enjoyed gathering with friends and family.Surviving are his wife, Diane Lenartz of Lafayette; his children, Rebecca Lenartz, Jacob Lenartz, and Tina (Brian) Giltner, all of Lafayette; and his sisters, Marge (Gary) Stivers and Pam Eylens, both of Lafayette. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Shaden Janssen, Ryder Giltner, and Axton Giltner.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob Lenartz and Patrick Mitchell.A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 14th at 6 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel.
