POTTS GERALD N. Jerry passed peacefully, on Sunday, November 27, 2016, after a lengthy illness. He was the father of Catherine Houston (Robert), Thomas Potts (Linda) and Alice Potts; brother of Larry Potts (Celeste); and grandfather of Lillie and Paul Houston, Michael Potts, and Emily and Betsy Goldemen. Jerry was born on April 10, 1933, and raised in Franklin, NC and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and the Advanced Management Program, Harvard Business School. Upon discharge from his service in the United States Army, Jerry began his career at Vulcan, Inc., Latrobe, PA for 28 years where he held a variety of leadership positions. He then worked for Teledyne, Inc. and retired from Woodings-Verona Tool Works, Verona, PA. Jerry was an avid skier and encouraged many to take up the sport and join in the fun. During his retirement years, Jerry volunteered through his church and traveled to impoverished areas and places affected by natural disasters. Jerry also served as a volunteer with Forbes Hospice. Jerry had many interests, which included traveling, reading, biking, cooking, and supporting the arts. Jerry was a true gentleman and respected, loved and admired by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by Conrad Bricker, his partner of 25 years. Many thanks go to Charlene Presken, Jerry's personal care giver for the last four years and everyone at Asbury Heights for the loving care during the last three and a half years of Jerry's life. Friends will be received on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Shadyside Presbyterian Church beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Sharp Atrium, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary.
