Gary L. Oakland Gary L Oakland was born on Sept. 17, 1935 to Kearney and Evelyn Oakland in McGregor, North Dakota. Gary passed away October 29, 2016 in Auburn, Washington losing his battle with cancer. He was 81 years old. Gary is survived by his wife Jan Oakland, brother Merlin Oakland, sisters Shirley Thorvilson and Sharon Lewis. His three children, Caryl French, Eric Oakland and Michael Oakland and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Alan Oakland. Gary worked for the Boeing Company for 42 years as a Manager from 1953 to 1995. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958.
