Frederick A RuggeriAGE: 89 • Toms RiverFrederick Anthony Ruggeri Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather passed away on Monday January 30, 2017 in Stafford, VA at the age of 89. Fred was born on November 11, 1927 in Guttenberg NJ to Rose and Anthony Ruggeri. He spent his childhood in Guttenberg and Ridgefield. Fred was an excellent baseball player during his youth. He remained an avid fan of the NY Mets and NY Giants for the rest of his life. After serving in the
Army with an Honorable Discharge, Fred returned to NJ and married Rose Romano on April 27, 1951. They spent the first years of their marriage in Teaneck before moving into their house on West Magnolia Ave. in Maywood where they lived for almost 25 years. In 1978, Fred and Rose moved to their happy home in Toms River NJ until recently. Fred was a butcher by trade and owned and operated Grand Market in Little Ferry for over twenty years. After closing the business and moving to Toms River, he worked as a butcher until his retirement. During retirement he maintained an active life crabbing with grandchildren in Barnegat Bay, playing bingo with Rose and friends, doing large puzzles, and enjoying time with his family. Fred is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Rose. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous family and friends including his daughter Deborah Greczek and her husband Bob, his son Tony and his wife Carol, four grandchildren Tony Ruggeri and Katie Ruggeri Nelson, Bryan and Brandyn Greczek, and four Great Grandchildren, Gabriella, Michael, Juliana, and Emilia. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday February 3, 2017 with Visitation from 4:00PM-8:00PM at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toms River NJ on Saturday February 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM followed by Internment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donation to with or Wounded Warrior Project.
