Fred “Kenneth†Turpin, 86, of Bedford, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2016. He was born on July 19, 1930, a son of the late Thomas Fred Turpin and Ethel Louise Holdren Turpin. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Morgan Turpin; brother-in-law, Buster Jones; and sister-in-law, Loretta Turpin. Kenneth served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver from Sam Moore Furniture and was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, having spent lots of time with his brother and nephews hunting and fishing. Kenneth is survived by his brother, Ray Murell Turpin Sr.; sisters, Jeanette Jones, Evelyn Ortiz and husband Jimmy; nephews, Dennis Turpin and wife Kim, Tommy Turpin and wife Cricket, Ray Turpin and wife Barbara; nieces, Becky Turpin, Teressa Renee Kelley and husband James; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service was held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut St., Bedford, with Rev. Mike Jones officiating. A burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
